Membership Approval for the purchase of new local union property in the greater Edmonton area.

September 19, 2020

We are calling on Members of Local 362 to vote on the purchase of new office space in the Edmonton area at the upcoming General Meetings in both Calgary and Edmonton. As one of the main campaign principles of the Members First 2020 slate was openness regarding financial affairs and expenditures of the Local Union. As per our bylaws, we are looking for Membership to make a motion for fixed assets in excess of $10,000.00.

As the Local Union continues to grow, it is important that we acquire a space that will allow us to expand our operations in Edmonton. Currently, there are constraints with the Edmonton Union Hall that are holding us back. Some of the constraints that are causing challenges are:

  • The size of the building, which does not offer enough room for meetings;
  • Sufficient space for training and the ability to further expand training possibilities for Construction and Pipeline Division Members;
  • Adequate space for Agents and Administrative Staff to conduct their duties;
  • Ongoing and costly repairs needed to the building to insure its condition.

With that, we are looking forward to your participation at the upcoming General Meeting in Calgary on Monday October 5th at 10.00am and 7.00pm and in Edmonton, on Monday November 2 at 10.00am, where further details will be presented by the Secretary Treasurer, President and Vice-president.

In Solidarity

Local 362!
